Stream narrows and widens several times until a mine is reached which has rerouted the river
R. (Rapids) under the second bridge. We let down on the right to just below the bridge thus avoiding a large rock & stacks in the center. We then shot the remaining, crossing to the left shore before the second pitch. (1970 shot it all, Clay portaged?)
R. is a short distance below where the river swings right and then drops over a small ledge. We shot down the left at the top and out to the center below, avoiding shallows on the left shore.
Paddle up Baie du Post staying to the west of the esker.
C.S. Opposite (south) of Mistassini Post on point. Second landing and C.S. area is about 30 yards west of the first and is much better. Bay Post closed Sundays and Mondays.
BAIE DU POST July 7
Bay Post closed Sunday & Monday. Two Restaurants open. The one to the SW of the Post Office better & bigger.
Made a pretty good batch of yeast cinnamon rolls. Yum. A motor boat with 5 Indians in it came up (they’d come over the night before too) and said they were looking for a dead dog - it got hit by an airplane it was chasing. (All airplanes land on the lake here). Weird.
