August 3 & 4, 1975
August 3: I turned 20 today, and the rains returned. Another day has passed and we’re still here. The hot sticky weather set in again. The air service couldn’t be reached on the radio phone for part of the day and then they couldn’t get any planes out to us. Oh well, it’s better than sitting in Moosonee.
August 4: After I wrote last evening several things happened that really made a good ending to the trip, and added a good taste to the Rupert House part. Right after dinner there was a big baseball game with our two sections playing as one team (switching players in and out) against the Indians. I went up on a hill just behind the village at the end of the baseball field and watched the game as the most beautiful sunset of the year went on display over Rupert’s Bay, off the west side of the village.

99. Final Sunset Over Rupert's House
Oh, it was so beautiful. These Indian villages really rise to the occasions like our section arriving. So, the whole village was there and everyone was having a great time. Then there was a movie in the town hall building, it was great. I was really glad for the guys because so far this place has been a down, just waiting around to get flown out. What a great evening. Now we’re sitting around again waiting to get flown out today. It looks very promising, some fog in Moosonee now though, that’s why no plane yet.
Later: Just got flown down to Moosonee, lots of quick small storm systems passing through today, and we just made it here before one hit. About an 80 mile flight.
