98.1,2 -- At Rupert's House.
Paddled mostly down the left shore through several swifts, and across to the right shore after the island before the last rapid. Ran a few swifts too.
P 150 yards long on the right, crosses a rocky point. Hard to find trail passes through the next to last clump of trees. Takes out on a grassy landing to the right of several small islands. Very shallow approach. Followed the right shore into the landing.
R Shot rapid below mostly down the middle. Very shallow. Rupert’s House can be seen 1/2 way down.
Paddle two miles to Rupert’s House on south shore.
C.S. at E end of village where an old sawmill was About 50 yards before the first dock. Large Tides!
Made it into Rupert’s House by lunch. The Bay Post was closed and so we had to get the guy to open it and we got food for Clay and us for the next 2 days. (Clay came in about 2 hours behind us). Right now we’re waiting to see if we can get flown out this afternoon. They can’t get through to Moosonee to get us a plane and evidently there’s a big storm system coming in. Today was another super hot and sticky day. Wind from the west/ south.
Well, I got my birthday wish, making it down the river in one piece.
